[Click for full picture]The Resident Evil series was the very basis for most of the Horror/Survival games today. It is definetly Capcom's crown jewel and the third installment keeps true to the series. You will scream and shudder and jump back as you play this game.

The whole story is based on Jill Valentine (from RE1) escaping from the infamous Raccoon City in the middle of yet another Zombie outbreak. Even worse, a gigantic beast that was created by Umbrella (the bad guys) is released to hunt down Stars members like Jill! I must say this guy is creepy and will constantly keep you on edge as his attacks are almost random. Capcom said that you will go in the same areas as in RE2, but in actuality only one is visited. A great addition to the game is the Live Selection system, where you have to quickly make an important choice at certain situations that will determine the outcome of your game.

The graphics are basically what all RE games have, and follows the basic fixed background sytem to the pixel. The backgrounds are well made, they set the mood of death and destruction well. The characters are average, and the Nemesis sends chills down your spine upon sight. In addition, the FMVs of the game are possibly the best parts, especially the wonderfully done endings, which end the Raccoon City Nightmare and finish off that chapter of the series excellently.

[Click for full picture]The sound will be the most vital part to your survival, as certain monters make unique sounds and help tell you whats looking arouynd the corner. But, if you are hear "Stars", run! That's the Nemesis, and probably the most stressing line of the game. The sound of wind on the city streets and the cawing of crows is a nice touch.

Resident Evil 3 has a very nice feature for those who beat the game, a minigame which can unlock bonuses for further gameplay. You play as one of the three mercenaries with varying levels of difficulty. Upon completion of the minigame you recieve an amount of cash based on the difficulty and hostages saved. That money can be used to purchase Unlimited Ammo or hidden weapons, which makes the game twice as fun to play. The only real downside is the minigame is a killer and it will take a long time to get the biggest bonus.

All in all, RE3 rocks with pumped up gameplay that will make you wet your pants. If you are truly brave though, I suggest playing on hard mode and turning off the lights... MWAHAHAHAHA *cough, cough* HAHAHAHAHA...
