As a word of warning, I wrote this a year ago when I was still a horrible writer... but that's the past. This review is full of corny metaphors and statements that are so bad, they'll make you want to pluck your eyeballs out. You've been warned!
A Farming RPG you say? Belive it. Harvest Moon 64 is one of the best, and most addicting, RPGs you will ever play. The game revolves around mantaining your farm, wooing a wife, and living a long healthy life. Sure this may seem like an easy task at first, but it can get hard. Because, you'll have to deal with Typhoons, Rain, Fatigue, Traveling Salesmen, and other guys competing for your girl.
The game begins with you recieiving the farm from your dead Grandfather. Immediately you'll hear some of the best music in the game (even though there are about eight tunes, but I'll get to that later), and notice the great graphics HM64 has to offer. Mantaining your farm may be hard because of the horrible default camera angle. But do not fear, because you can hit the R or L button to shift it to a straighter angle. Of course there are about ten diferent angles, so flipping between them can spell hassle. I personally belive that the game would have been easier to control if you could use the D-Pad.
Harvest Moon seems to be the only game series out there crazy enough to be all about farming. Unknowst to many, farming is actually fun, especially without all the smells! The innovation is all there, as if someone took every mini game known to mankind, and stuffed it into a unique RPG. There are tons of things to do after you finish your chores, including Fishing, Swimming, Wooing, and much much more. There are at least 40 different ways this game can follow through, including having firends get married, and marrying a different girl of the five available. There are also hidden items to search out like the Power Nuts, Photos, and Recipes. You could spend hours on this game and not even get everything.
